Overhead ionizing equipment

Overhead ionizers are permanently installed ionization systems for neutralizing electrostatic charges in work areas where earthing alone is not sufficient. They are mounted above the workstation - typically on frames, traverse elements or the ceiling - and thus enable full-surface ionization of the area below.

Ionization neutralizes existing charges on insulating or non-conductive materials in order to reliably minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) to sensitive components.

For standard-compliant ESD control, the ionization performance and ion balance must be checked regularly in accordance with IEC 61340-5-1.
