Workstation monitor Iron Man Plus
dpvlink 14092

Overvoltages by electrostatic overload (EOS electrostatic overstress) or electrostatic discharge represent a great risk in the ESD protected environment. The monitors Iron Man Plus respond to the overvoltage that can be generated on printed circuit boards or ESD sensitive components when working with screwdrivers, tweezers, soldering irons and other metal tools or by ungrounded employees.

Application

The Iron Man Plus monitor can be used in the workplace for manual assembly and testing. It continuously monitors the voltage between ground and the printed circuit board (PCB) while it is in contact with a base plate, table or floor mat, a grounded part of the PCB or products. In addition, the resistance value between earth and the working surface and the correct functioning of the double conductor wrist strap/grounding cable is continuously monitored.

If a soldering iron, a pair of tweezers or another tool touches the working surface and causes an overvoltage on the board, Iron Man will detect this and give alert in case the voltage on the input exceeds the default internal value.

The instrument indicates malfunctions with visual and acoustic signals. The alarm threshold for overvoltage monitoring is configurable. An internal switch can be used to choose between two ranges. High sensitivity V ≥ 5V, low sensitivity V ≥ ±15V.  Furthermore the acoustic alarm signal can enabled or disabled.

Properties:

  • Overvoltage control in electronics assemblies
  • Fault alarm in case of overvoltage
  • Wrist strap monitoring of the user
  • Monitoring of the voltage at the personnel grounding
  • Grounding control of the working surface
  • Optical and acoustic alarm
  • Power supply via AC adapter
